What do socks do anyway?

We said years ago that socks are like lubricant for feet. Think about it … if the insides of hiking boots and outdoor shoes were smoother, you wouldn’t need socks so much!

Either way, we see socks as the maker of peace between flesh and fiber, feet and footwear – the items that can make or break any outdoor experience.

These babies are a functional half height and light weight, but they are not super light and they do have cushioning, so they feel substantial – like they are actually going to do something – as soon as you slide them on. They feel soft, snug and good to go.

Modelled on a heritage of Wilderness Wear sock design and manufacture, the new Cape To Cape Hiker is made of 75% Pure Australian Merino (25 micron, so it doesn’t wear through too easily), 20% lycra for stretch, and 5% nylon to help in high abrasion areas – toe and heel. And adhering to our proprietary Secure Fit System S|F|S the calf band is nice and open, so circulation is never compromised, even though this is not a long sock. Also, the ventilation placements ensure moisture control whether your walk is for 30 minutes or from dawn ‘til dusk.

Coupled with neutral base colours, Cape To Cape Hiker socks come in orange or pink with charcoal (women’s palette), and same but also with black and charcoal combinations (for men). [Jon … these sock are the same for men and women, right? So maybe I need to re-think how this is written.]

Named after the famous walking track in Western Australia, where the weather is never too cold, the Cape To Cape Hiker is a definite 3-season sock, deserving of similar locations the country (and world) over.

Head straight to the store to line up a few pairs.

And remember … Wilderness Wear is 100% Australian owned and 100% Australian made – we reckon that’s 200% Australian!
