Best of both worlds- “nature-made plus man-made”
MerinoFusion is a hybrid weave that creates a hard wearing yet soft, luxurious next to skin feeling material that is perfect for base-layer thermals. Ideal for skiing, bushwalking, sailing, running and cycling, along with travel and casual wear, it provides the best of both worlds – nature made plus man-made.
The yarns in MerinoFusion garments observe global ecological guidelines along the entire procurement and production chain:
• EXP
• bluesign®
• Oko-Tex Standard 100
Wilderness Wear has a long history of making premium technical clothing from premium yarns, with Superfine Merino and the Schoeller® polypropylene heading the list since day one. Both fibres have category-leading qualities for those users wanting the very best performance in various outdoor conditions, and now they are available together in an integrated mix named MerinoFusion. Not layered, but blended 50/50 on the knitting machine, the result is a hard wearing, soft feeling, moisture wicking, odor resistant material perfectly suited to the next generation of base-layer thermals.
MerinoFusion is strongly influenced by three words: “SUSTAINABILITY + INNOVATION = SUSTAINNOVATION”

Henley Phillips (2019 Support rider for Katie Visco’s Run: Darwin to Adelaide)
‘I wore the MerinoFusion 190 Long Sleeve Zip most mornings during our run and cycle across Australia. It was all I needed during the cool morning hours from 4AM to just after sunrise when we’d stop to brew up some coffee off to the side of the track. I’d put it on again first thing in the evening when we finished the day and were setting up camp to keep the chill off. On rest days, I didn’t really have many spare clothes to wear while doing laundry, so I’d often hang out in the 1/4 zip all day, but it never gathered an odor. Back in the U.S.A. I’ve worn it on several cycling trips and find it to be the perfect layer over a wool t-shirt or on bare skin as it’s not itchy like some wool products. I’ve been a big fan of wool for many years now and felt proud and happy to be wearing Wilderness Wear’s 200% Australian wool products across the Outback’.
Simon Tong – Trekked to Everest Base Camp Nov 2015.
‘The WW Base layers were all extremely comfortable and soft. Not itchy at all. As there was no laundry facility or even showers as we climbed higher, the clothes’ odour-resistance was ESSENTIAL and very obvious. They simply didn’t smell and they also dried very quickly. I found it really amazing that the same top kept me warm when it was cold, and kept me cool when it was hot. I wore the pair of long johns at night as a pj and they kept me very warm’.‘I found the merino fusion top very interesting. It has all the qualities of a merino top, warm and comfortable, but not as soft and doesn’t cling to the body as much. I feel it’s more suitable as a top layer with a lighter weight merino underneath’.

Athletic FitMore of a “tailored” fit that is tighter across the middle and shoulder sections in tops and tighter across the backside, upper thigh and lower leg sections in leggings. Slim FitA snug, close-to-the body fit for low bulk, layering. Clothing in this style don’t have extra fabric hanging or draping anywhere. Regular FitNeither snug, nor loose, these garments are worn solo or over other layers. Regular fit clothing tends to fit most body types comfortably and have a little extra fabric than slim fit. Relaxed FitRelaxed refers to a fit that’s looser than regular, but not baggy. Typically, relaxed clothing provide a comfortable, looser fit. |
