Wilderness Wear has been designing and manufacturing merino wool socks in Melbourne since 1989. Originally we focused on hiking socks, but over the years our range has expanded to trail running, cycling, skiing, casual wear, and work socks. Our most popular & iconic sock is the merino fleece range, trusted by the Australian Antarctic Division and widely regarded as Australia’s warmest and most comfortable sock.

Compared to other brands, Wilderness Wear socks feature a higher percentage of merino wool. Our merino is 100% Australian and blended with nylon and lycra for enhanced durability. For men prone to blisters during hiking or trail running, we developed a blister-free range using Profilen® technology.

Profilen®: PTFE yarns reduce friction to prevent blisters and abrasions. Incorporated at 5% in our Merino wool eXtreme range, Profilen® ensures blister-free adventures.

Climayarn®: Combines merino wool with polypropylene for rapid drying, heat preservation in cold temperatures, and heat regulation during warmer conditions, delivering enhanced performance and durability.

Coolmax®: Engineered to transport moisture away from the foot, keeping you cool and dry during high-intensity and endurance activities.
