BUST: Measure the circumference of your chest. Place one end of the tape measure at the fullest part of your bust, wrap it around (under your armpits, around your shoulder blades, and back to the front) to get the measurement.

WAIST: Measure the circumference of your waist. Use the tape to circle your waist (sort of like a belt would) at your natural waistline, which is located above your belly button and below your rib cage. (If you bend to the side, the crease that forms is your natural waistline.)

HIP: Measure the circumference of your hips. Start at one hip and wrap the tape measure around your rear, around the other hip, and back to where you started. Make sure the tape is over the largest part of your hips.

INSIDE LEG: This is the distance from the uppermost inner part of your thigh to the bottom of your ankle. If you have a pair of pants that fit you perfectly, measure the inseam of the pants, again from the crotch to the hem.

Athletic Fit

More of a “tailored” fit that is tighter across the middle and shoulder sections in tops and tighter across the backside, upper thigh and lower leg sections in leggings.

Slim Fit

A snug, close-to-the body fit for low bulk, layering. Clothing in this style don’t have extra fabric hanging or draping anywhere.

Regular Fit

Neither snug, nor loose, these garments are worn solo or over other layers. Regular fit clothing tends to fit most body types comfortably and have a little extra fabric than slim fit.

Relaxed Fit

Relaxed refers to a fit that’s looser than regular, but not baggy. Typically, relaxed clothing provide a comfortable, looser fit.

What I love most about this top is that it's extremely versatile and can be worn for casual everyday situations.

This gorgeous blue jacket is made to be worn outdoors as a mid layer. I’ve always wanted a merino wool jacket and this zip-up jacket is perfect for running, hiking and travelling. It’s made from 100% pure merino wool but feels very light, thin and comfortable to wear over a merino tee. It’s highly insulating, and I feel extremely warm during the evenings when I’m wearing this jacket. This gorgeous top features a Ponte merino wool that provides subtle warmth and wicks away moisture, dries quickly, and is naturally odour-resistant.nWhat I love most about this top is that it’s extremely versatile and can be worn for casual everyday situations. I wore this on a trip to the wilderness of Hong Kong the other day, and it protected me from the strong winter winds and the light rain that day. It’s one of the best items that you can possibly get if you want to travel the world and go hiking, and I’m really happy with the fitting and design too.

Summary for Mens Ascent Merino Soft Shell Jacket
Average Score: 4 (1 ratings)
4.7/5
The jacket is a great fit in both girth, shoulders and core length and the collar is perfect as it doesn't bulk up under the chin area.

This is based on an out of the bag fit. I’m thinking I might need to exchange for the 2XL depending on what you think. The jacket is a great fit in both girth, shoulders and core length and the collar is perfect as it doesn’t bulk up under the chin area. I probably find the sleeve length just a wee bit too short and it comes back on the forearm if I stretch out my arms (simulate reaching up high for example). Do you know if the 2XL is significantly bigger in the body and if not, does it run any extra length on the arms? If it’s at all possible, I’d like to try on the 2XL just to compare – the XL is still all tagged up and has only the one trial fit.

Summary for Mens Atmosphere Q Trail Socks

Absolutely recommend Wilderness Wear Atmosphere Q Running Socks to all those looking to eliminate blisters.

I began running marathons/long distance running approximately nine years ago. I have completed eight Melbourne Marathons. My biggest problem was developing huge blisters on the balls of my feet. After numerous unsuccessful attempts such as changing shoes, charcoal inner soles, and many types of socks, one of my running companions finally recommended I try Merino Wool Running socks. I did this and went and spoke with the operations manager from Wilderness Wear factory in Preston Victoria. Being a runner himself he understood the anxiety and pain I was incurring. He said he had a pair of socks in which he would guarantee would solve and eliminate my problem with blisters. I immediately purchased a pair of Wilderness Wear Atmosphere Q Running Socks. I have been doing my weekly 4 hour training runs with these socks for the past four weeks without a single blister. Upon completion of these runs my feet are still dry and blister free. The socks are extremely comfortable and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM. Thank you Wilderness Wear.nnRegards,nnThomas Munson

Well done and my feet thank you greatly.

Got 2 pair of your socks from a shop in Nagambie (Black Merino Fleece) and they are the solution to a long standing problem I have had with finding good socks to wear all day while having my feet in Gum Boots or waders. I inspect bridges for councils and need to wear either gum boots or waders all day, which without really good socks is a nightmare.nThey are without doubt the best socks I have ever worn, so I went back to get some more a week later.nI have tried all sorts of socks over the years and wool has always been the best fibre. But among all of the wool socks I have tried yours are clearly well ahead of the pack.nWell done and my feet thank you greatly. They may be a little expensive but they are well worth it.

I gave the Wilderness ‘Cape to Cape Light Hiker’ socks a try.

A bit over a year ago I started training in earnest for a longnwalk that I am taking later this year, the Camino de Santiago.nOnce I began getting some serious hours up in daily andnweekend walks I started to refine my options for clothing, nshoes and of course, my socks. Apart from the obviousndecisions about comfort, the socks needed to be merino wool asnthey appear to be the only type of sock that can be washed at nightnand be ready to wear the next morning. This is important when I amnonly taking two pairs of socks in total. When you are going to walknfor over a month and plan for the total backpack weight including ansleeping bag to come in under 6 kilos, everything has to performnwell. There can be no passengers.I bought some very well regardednand highly priced brands, and all performed really well for the shorternwalks or in any normal activity. But during summer, these fanciednbrands often fell short as pounding the pavement for several hoursnin temperatures in the high 30’s showed the construction was notnsuitable for softening feet in overheated conditions. One day Inended up with an imprint of a sock’s internal construction embeddedninto my sole, and that was from a very well regarded brand .I startednto look at other varieties of merino socks and gave the Wildernessn‘Cape to Cape Light Hiker’ socks a try.

Whilst not cheap, I'm committing to going for quality to ensure wise use of resources. It's great to be able to buy such good quality.

Three pairs of Wilderness Wear Cape to Cape Light Hiker socks have arrived in the post quite quickly after ordering, thank you. I purchased my first two pairs on the recommendation of one of your staff members when purchasing a back pack. The local manufacturing and Australian wool that produced them, with enough Lycra and nylon to allow them to wear well and wash simply attracted me at the time. The impression of a quality sock has been proven to me by close to daily use of my first two pairs in my work boots for nearly six months, without any significant signs of wear. Whilst not cheap, I’m committing to going for quality to ensure wise use of resources. It’s great to be able to buy such good quality.

Wow. This fabric is the duck's guts and was certainly worth the wait.

Wow. This fabric is the duck’s guts and was certainly worth the wait. I did a few runs over Easter and there is absolutely zero chafe and the wicking ability is excellent. The compression held up and overall it’s just about the best thing I’ve ever run in. My only comment is that I’d probably spec these as being for someone with a max 5’10″/5’11” frame, particularly on the top. The legs aren’t really an issue length-wise as I like them to be a little off the ankle anyway (I appreciate that this is subjective) though an extra 25mm wouldn’t go astray, however I do find the top to be too short in both arm and torso. I’m not in possession of a washboard stomach by any stretch of the imagination, but it gets revealed pretty easily if I raise my arms at all!! My 2 bobs worth is probably 25mm in the arms and double that in the torso.

I don’t work in a freezer but we live in an old brick and tile with wooden floors which gets freezing in the winter. These socks will be a life saver (or a toe saver?). . I wore your WW socks for the entire time (by the way, they did not stink)!

We went skiing/snowboarding this past week in Siberia, in weather that ranged from around -5 to -20 degrees Celsius, and spent 2 evenings and 2 full days on the slopes. With some nights having the wind pick up, it was definitely colder than -20 degree C. I wore your WW socks for the entire time (by the way, they did not stink), and wore the 100% merino wool base layer you gifted me with just a down jacket on top. No problems at all; felt warm and comfortable throughout the entire temperature range.
Yana and her brother really love the socks. We’re all sold and proud WW members. I will gear up with WW for both Yana and myself when back in Melbourne, and spread the good word about your company.

Close to the perfect run sock

Training for ultrarunning I have spent plenty of time and money looking for the illusive perfect run sock this is as close as I’ve found. Here is why – comfort and construction are first rate, fit is perfect with most other short run socks length is too short allowing shoe heal rub and trail trash to get in, these sit just above the ankle; cushion is ample reducing fatigue also preventing the dreaded lost toenails trailrunners get; no blistering whatsoever even running through water, whilst raining or extreme heat which means no more toe socks, value for money these will outlast several pairs of cotton/polyester socks while outperforming them in every way; merino socks I’d wore previously were a compromise of comfort/ durability/ functionality WW have brought all the good features together at the same price; support a locally owned and ethically made product of Australia.

Light trail running, light hiking and dog walking… an excellent sock for these purposes.

I’ve used the Men’s 10K socks frequently for light trail running, light hiking and dog walking
Excellent sock for these purposes. Fit is great, hotspots are non-existent. Cushioning is sufficient. Height is good for when a no-show is too short.
No complaints to make sorry! I’m not sure the 10K extreme is ever likely to be necessary for me in the shoes I currently use but if I was doing a big pack-rafting trip on light shoes I might use them. I’d recommend them to friends who blister and have suggested Nicole Paton give them a crack when she has a chance due to her high turnover of running gear and the blister prevention required for ultra-trail events.

I’m in my new Beasts 2 socks on my next work day and can have comfortable feet.

They arrived today which is just awesome supply chain work from team Wilderness Wear. Thank you for your great work and of course kudos to Aust. Post who are working through Covid-19 limitations and big volumes. So big ups to WW and Aust. Post. It means I’m in my new Beasts 2 socks on my next work day and can have comfortable feet.

Perhaps the warmest socks in my wardrobe right now!

Perhaps the warmest socks in my wardrobe right now, as they’re made from 83% merino wool and 15% nylon, which creates a perfect balance of warmth and stretchiness. I love how the socks are quite long, so I can wear them underneath my boots during the winter season. These socks are sure to protect you against the harshness of the weather, and are so comfortable too. I have to say, Wilderness Wear stocks extremely high-quality socks.

These are the warmest and most comfortable paid of socks I’ve ever owned! Being stuck in Melbourne lockdown I gave them a solid test over Winter at home and both my housemates ended up buying a pair as well. Will definitely be buying a pair for my mum for Xmas.

Was really impressed by their warmth, minimal water absorption.

I’d been meaning to give you some feedback on the Merino Fusion Max socks. Used one pair for 6 cold, wet and snowy days on the Overland. Was really impressed by their warmth, minimal water absorption and that they didn’t get that polypro odour. Was hard to leave my Overland hikers at home, but really liked the MF Max. Think only days I had mildly unhappy feet were day 5 (6 hours of waist deep trail breaking in the snow) and day 6 (5 hours of walking in snowmelt/creeks over boot height).

Need serious quality hiking socks?

I recently bought a pair of Men’s Fusion Max and Larapinta Hiker eXtreme socks for a hiking trip to North America. Both socks performed extremely well and were comfortable to wear on long hikes with great cushioning. The Larapinta socks are very warm and the length is perfect for cold climates. Overall I found these Wilderness Wear socks to be great and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs serious quality hiking socks.

My go-to sock for running

The WW multisport has become my go-to sock for running, mountain biking, hiking and everyday use they are just so comfortable. WW have taken great care to make a quality and stylish product with longevity in mind, reinforced in the right places (namely heal & toe) cushioned yet provides good pedal feel for cycling while retaining new look for general day to day use. My initial thought was how thick the sock was but as is the advantage of merino its provided warmth in cold wet conditions and kept cool in the heat wicking moisture away and staying blister free.

Comfort - 100%

Tested throughout season in resort, side-country and back-country snow camping on FeathertopnExcellent weight for general Aussie conditions – I will probably get myself a lighter set for spring touring and maybe a Merino 260 for dead of winter, snow campingnComfort – 100%. My only complaint could possibly be that the sleeves are very slightly too short for me to comfortable use the thumb holes. I have long monkey arms and don’t like using thumb holes in general anyway so no big dealnThey really do deal with moisture and odour pretty well. I spent 5 continuous days in them recently. After coming back, they pass the sniff test without too much eye watering.nSomehow the shirt survived me using it as an outer layer due to ridiculously high temperature on the Feathertop trip. This doesn’t seem like a big deal but my pack has a mesh back panel that has a reputation for chewing up wool and softer fabric and my split-board edges swing forward and cut the back of my triceps during stretches on crampons so I was quite impressed.

Not itchy at all

The WW Base layers were all extremely comfortable and soft.nNot itchy at all. As there was no laundry facility or even showersnas we climbed higher, the clothes’ odour-resistance was ESSENTIALnand very obvious. They simply didn’t smell and they also dried verynquickly. I found it really amazing that the same top kept me warmnwhen it was cold, and kept me cool when it was hot. I wore the pairnof long johns at night as a pj and they kept me very warm’.n‘I found the merino fusion top very interesting. It has all the qualitiesnof a merino top, warm and comfortable, but not as soft and doesn’tncling to the body as much. I feel it’s more suitable as a top layernwith a lighter weight merino underneath.

Wore this running and cycling across Australia

I wore the MerinoFusion 190 Long Sleeve Zip most mornings during our run and cycle across Australia. It was all I needed during the cool morning hours from 4AM to just after sunrise when we’d stop to brew up some coffee off to the side of the track. I’d put it on again first thing in the evening when we finished the day and were setting up camp to keep the chill off. On rest days, I didn’t really have many spare clothes to wear while doing laundry, so I’d often hang out in the 1/4 zip all day, but it never gathered an odour. Back in the U.S.A. I’ve worn it on several cycling trips and find it to be the perfect layer over a wool t-shirt or on bare skin as it’s not itchy like some wool products. I’ve been a big fan of wool for many years now and felt proud and happy to be wearing Wilderness Wear’s 200% Australian wool products across the Outback

Mate... really impressed with the quality. Top notch finish and fabrics.

My products arrived!nFeedback as requested….nMate… really impressed with the quality. Top notch finish and fabrics.nI love, love, love my new 190 long sleeve switch hoody. As promised by you….smooth as. It’s perfect. Fits nicely. Couldn’t be happier.nLove the thickness, warmth and quality of the Duo Fusion 300 long sleeve crew top. The XL fit is at the moment, a fraction tighter around my chunky (slightly porky) upper body but I can kinda live with that and possibly, with a bit more of my daily swimming now, it might become a perfect fit in a few weeks. I like my cheeses too much! Don’t get me wrong…I do love it my 300.nReally appreciate the (your) 200% Aussie marketing stamp….good stuff…! That is a great differential …hammer it home.nJon….May you and your team be happy and well. Your fabrics are marvellous!nI’ll be back for much more of your stuff.nLove you all there!

The Fusion Duo 300 tops are spot on.

The Fusion Duo 300 tops are spot on and I find the extra length in the torso is perfect for additional warmth around the hips/kidney area. They’re a 100% fit for my lanky frame – I run out at about 6′ 4″ on a good day – with good sleeve length down to the wrists.

I was really surprised as to how well it went with wind chill protection. First rate.

Just a quick line to firstly thank you for the generous time you afforded me in providing a tour of the WW engine room. It was fantastic to gain a small insight into what goes into your product, and I only hope my voice is loud enough to help spread the word – I kid you not, your socks are the best in the world!nWith Melbourne’s weather being true to self, I’ve had plenty of opportunity to give the new DUO top a decent workout. I’ve used it on a couple of hikes, and on a couple of early morning runs in brisk weather. It’s fantastic. I don’t know whether I lucked out body-shape wise, but the fit is first rate. There’s ample length in the torso to fall over the hips, and sleeve length is spot on with the cuff being neat enough to pull and hold on the forearms. I recall you suggesting that there might be some fitment changes around the neck and chest, but for this bloke at least, the fit is perfect.nI was wondering how it might perform with the merino as the outer (don’t know why, but I just assumed it would be the inner), but it wicks wonderfully and I was really surprised as to how well it went with wind chill protection. First rate.

The best at wicking perspiration

I’m loving the MerinoFusion Light – wearing the base layers every day, not just when cycling. In fact it’s awesome! I have worn the fusion light top out sailing but as a cycling top it was amazing! I’ve ridden it a number of times. Its ability to wick perspiration is better than I have ever worn. My polyester mesh bibs straps underneath were wet from perspiration but the fusion was still dry – I was wishing the bib straps were also made from the fusion fabric

Thank you

I’ve just got back from my trip around the Larapinta. And the performance of the T-shirt Fusion 60 over the whole week hiking has been excellent. The wicking of the fabric was unbelievable and aid me during the unseasonable hot days. Also its breathability kept me cool under the sun and quite warm during the evening. I wore the T-shirt during the days and the evenings since the expected nights around 0C did not occur. Moreover, after 7 days of heavy usage the clothing barely had any smell so I can assure you that its antibacterial properties also worked well.nnAgain thank you! Your company has developed an incredible new fabric that sustained really tough conditions over a whole week of walking an average of 6 to 7 hours, 20 km per day, carrying 18 kg and day temperatures of 28 to 30 C”

MerinoFusion Light 160 Short Sleeve Tee Top Review

For the past month I have been trying out the Wilderness Wear MerinoFusion Light 160 Short Sleeve Tee Top which may seem strange because those of you that have followed this blog for a while will know that I don’t wear short sleeved tops when I hike. I like the protection that long sleeved tops provide from the elements, from insects and ticks, and from scratchy undergrowth. However there are times that I make an exception and do wear short sleeved tops and on these rare occasions this is now my top of choice.nnUsually when I start my reviews I tend to get the negative aspects out of the way and with this top I was struggling to find any. The only things that I can fault is that it’s a short sleeved which as I said is not my usual form of garment. From what I see on the trail the majority of hikers do opt for short sleeve during the warmer weather so this is unlikely to be a negative to most people. Secondly there appears to be only one colour choice at the moment which is the one shown in this review but I like this colour.nnNow for the pluses. Firstly Wilderness Wear is an Australian owned Company that also manufactures in Australia. While I like to support local companies I’ll only do so if the product stands the test and this one does.nnThis top is made from a blend of Merino Wool (50%) and Polypropylene(50%), hence it’s name ‘MerionoFusion’. The idea here it that this hybrid material provides the best of both worlds in that the smell often associated with wearing synthetic garments over long periods is minimised, the garment stays soft to the touch and feels very comfortable on, it continues to keep you warm even when wet but at the same time wicks moisture away from your body on those days when you start to sweat. In addition the use of a synthetic hybrid material means that its cheaper than garments that are 100% wool. A good indication here is that I have been wearing this top on average for about four hours a day over the last 10 days as I do this review and it still doesn’t still doesn’t smell like many garments would do. In fact it smells less than the pure Merino Wilderness Wear Cumulo 150 Long sleeve Tee Top which is what I wear the majority of the time.nnAs far as comfort goes this top crept up on me. It feels really comfortable to wear and in a matter of days wearing this I just found myself picking this top up because I liked it so much. This top is classed as a lightweight top and while it’s marginally warmer than my Wilderness Wear Cumulo 150 Long sleeve Tee Top it felt right even on hot days.nnThe fit is classed as athletic and the XL size (Rainforest colour) top shown in the images below fits well although I usually prefer my tops on the tight size so the next time I replace this top I’ll do so with a size L.nnLike all the Wilderness Wear tops that I have worn they are generous in the length of the Torso. So many other manufacturers skimp on the body length and they tend to come untucked which becomes annoying on long hikes. The stitching is a bright blue in colour and is flat locked so it doesn’t chafe. I also love the pattern on this top which is created by the manufacturing process rather than being a print. The colour is also pretty smick, not that its going too impact what it does, but that’s a bonus.nnAs said at the start of this review the Wilderness Wear MerinoFusion Light 160 Short Sleeve Tee Top has now become my short sleeved top of choice and one that I’m happy to recommend for those times of the year where you aren’t looking for something to keep the cold out.

I really rate these and have hammered them every weekend since I got them.

MerinoFusion Light 160 Short Sleeve -nGreat on warmer days for ski touring climbs, and cooler days for running. I really rate these and have hammered them every weekend since I got them. They are probably my favourite item so far. The only negative I could find is the fit. I reckon there’s room for a slightly smaller size below the small I have. I find them just a tad loose with a slight tendency for the collar to pull back/sit too high at the front. Mostly this isn’t an issue – for snow it’s preferable in my opinion to have the relaxed fit. However in thicker vegetation, particularly when moving at speed without the buffering assistance of a pack, I find they can tend to get hung-up occasionally.

Overland Hiker socks - 10 out of 10

Well, a dual Wilderness Wear review!!! The Overland Hiker socks and the Chameleon Strider Shell jackets!nI was fortunate enough to win a pair of the socks – and left it until this weekend to give them a thorough test! A 4 Day Hike to Kia Ora Hut on the Overland Track in Tasmania.nI put the socks on at home in the morning – boy were they comfy, so soft and warm! Drove off to Lake St Clair, and after the usual bumpy ferry ride, we started the walk to the first hut (Windy Ridge Hut). Weather would be considered “Ordinary” – rain, rain, and heavy rain!nThe socks were brilliant – no wearing, blisters, hot feet or sore spots at all! The kilometres rolled by with no issues at all. Then the dreaded “Puddle-too-deep-to-avoid” happened, and say hello to wet socks and boots! Here’s where I expected cold feet, and blisters… but nope! Perfect! Wet, yes, but my feet were still comfy and still no blisters.nWe got to the hut, and my daughter and I were still both bone dry from the great Chameleon Strider Shell jackets we had on. We weren’t sweaty, but perfectly dry and comfortable. Amazing.nSo the next day was a very, very unexpected snowstorm that laid us up in the hut, for the whole day and also dashed our hopes of getting to Kia Ora Hut. The rangers said it wouldn’t be a pleasant walk. So we called it, had a relaxing rest day, played in the snow, and decided to head back the next day.nThe next day dawned, the snow had turned back to rain again – and it was time to put on the still damp socks and wet boots (hard to dry anything in a hut with no heater and an average temperature of 3 degrees!) but after a few minutes, my feet were warm again (but damp), and we trudged back to our starting point! Still no blisters, amazing! Of course we were still dry on top as the Chameleon shells were doing their usual brilliant job of keeping the rain out!nI’ve not had such a comfortable walk in ages… I’d just wished I’d managed to get some of the Chameleon Strider rain pants for my daughter & I when I’d had the chance!nOverland Hiker socks – 10 out of 10nChameleon Shell Jacket – 10 out of 10

Review of PolyPRO+ 190 LONG SLEEVE HOODY

5 stars

It’s probably meant to be a base layer thermal but actually makes a good looking practical, compact and robust all round hoody for everyday wear. I love that it’s lightweight, crushable, has a zipper and a hood for a range of temperatures and uses. I use it to start my chilly winter morning runs, as I warm up, I can shove up the sleeves put down hood and zip. Take it off and tie it around my waist knowing I can’t stretch it or distort it. My only problem with it is it took 15 years to wear out my last one, and that means I can’t get another until this one does too

In late 2019, I ran across Australia, 30 miles a day for four months on dirt roads, in Wilderness Wear’s Merino Multi-Sport and Atmosphere socks. The fact that both pairs held up through all of this running is absolutely a testament to the durability and quality of these socks. Also, wool is absolutely the way to go; my socks NEVER smelled and they always kept my feet dry enough at the right temperature. If I wanted more cushion, I wore the Merino Multi-Sport. If I wanted more sun protection up my calves, I went with the Atmosphere. I rarely got blisters which is a HUGE benefit of these socks. Super comfy, love the colour/design

Super comfy, love the colour/design. Ideal weight and cushioning for me (I don’t deal well with thick or highly padded socks). I really like this height (for me @160cm) for running or hiking in low profile shoes. Sensational performance when wet. Photoluminescent yarn doesn’t seem particularly effective, but doesn’t impact on the sock comfort/function so not a big deal.

The first thing I noticed about these bamboo socks is how soft they are. On the foot they are comfortable and well fit without being too tight around my calf. I also love the colours on the black and pink design.
The cushioning and extra padding at the toes, heel and whole underfoot is excellent and so comfortable.

The bamboo runner socks are extremely soft and comfortable.

The bamboo runner socks are extremely soft and comfortable, and they’re made from bamboo and spandex which gives it a really stretchy texture. I love how these socks wicks away moisture and I wear them for my hikes all the time. They’re perfect for sports, jogging, walking or general activities around the city. I also love the colour of these socks.

These are a genius concept!

These are a genius concept! I’ve never come across merino used in a compression garment before (and assumed it would be impossible to generate enough compression), but these look, feel, and work superbly. I’ve worn them on a bunch of fast-paced hikes through winter, including some light rock scrambling, and they’ve performed and held up wonderfully. I also wore them as pants through winter a bit more than I should probably admit… Lycra compression garments are highly effective, but I always dread pulling them over wet skin, and life gets pretty unpleasant if the sun comes out and you start overheating in your shrink wrapping. Else it starts raining and you freeze to death. None of these are issues with these highly breathable merino compression leggings.nMy only comment/criticism is regarding the cut and sizing. Based on my measurements, you (correctly) guessed me at a 10, which is unheard of for me (I’m typically a 6/XXS, or whatever the smallest size is in any given brand). I’d suggest adding a note to the product page that these size small. I also found the cut around the backside to be a bit… shallow? I don’t have a lot in the way of glutes, but I still found that these tended to dip slightly lower at the rear of the waistband, which is obviously not desirable if you’re having to bend over a lot. I really liked the low hipster cut of them so it wasn’t that – just not quite enough “scoop” constructed into the backside, for me.

I feel like I'm not wearing anything but they keep me super warm during Winter hikes.

They’re made from pure merino wool but feels really different because the outer fabric is made from a nylon spandex blend. These leggings are extremely comfortable as they’re soft on the inside, but stretchy and strong on the outside. I’ve been looking for leggings that actually stretch during hikes and these are perfect for long walks and even light jogging. What I love about these leggings are that they’re incredibly snug and fits so well on the skin. I feel like I’m not wearing anything but they keep me super warm during the winter hikes that I went on recently in Hong Kong. These leggings are made to withstand tough days and nights on a mountain, and I’m definitely ready to take these for a trip.

Review of WOMEN'S COMPRESSION MERINO 200 LONG SLEEVE CREW TOP

5 stars

My Wilderness Wear 200% Australian owned woolen compression thermal is unbelievably awesome! It’s snug, and keeps me warm when in and out of water, no seams that chafe under the arms, While rowing the George Bass Surf Boat Marathon in the heat of january along the south coast of NSW. I would spend several hours every day in and out the water, either rowing or sitting immobile in the support boat. Going from Icey cold water to hard exercise in the heat to sitting damp and still in a windy support boat, I never wanted to to take it off. After 7 days with only a daily rinse it didn’t stink!!!

Fitting, flattering and soft

I have the blue version of this singlet and the fabric is so soft and light. nSometimes marino feels scratchy on my skin but this blend is so comfortable and soft. It keeps me cool on runs and is beautifully fitting if I am doing yoga. The way the seams are designed is also really flattering for a womans body. nPlus it’s sustainable – what more could you ask for!

I wore this to my yoga class the other day and it was really cooling and breathable.

This gorgeous singlet comes in black and blue, but I got this blue one as it is bright, colourful and looks fantastic during a hike. I wore this to my yoga class the other day and it was really cooling and breathable, as it’s made from 70% superfine merino wool and 30% tencel. The tencel makes the fabric quite soft and smooth, and you can even wear this during a night in your house. This top is one of my favourites because it’s quite versatile, and you can wear this casually too. It’s extremely well-made and features flat seams which flatter the body, and I really like how it looks on me.

An exceptional active base layer.

An exceptional active base layer. The seam positioning is really clever to create an attractive silhouette, and the blue colour is lovely (sometimes aesthetics matter) and keep the garment close to the skin without being tight. Retains excellent warmth when wet, and is highly breathable. Also surprisingly durable to snagging when worn as an outer layer. I’ve shopped A LOT for merino singlet base layers, and the three things I look for are: (1) ultralight blend, (2) must have sizing suitable to small people and not excessively long (tucking into knicks for cycling purposes), and (3) a relatively low scooped neck, so that efficient venting is still possible by cracking the zip on a jersey. This ticks all those boxes, and I can confidently tell you that none of the mainstream outdoor or cycling brands (as at autumn 2019) had a single product offering that suited these purposes.

This light grey tee caught my eye as it looks so comfortable and chic.

This light grey tee caught my eye as it looks so comfortable and chic, yet it is actually one of the most practical and functional t-shirts that I’ve ever seen. It’s made from the lightest merino wool fabric, which gives it a light, airy feel. However, when you wear this you never want to take it off. I wore mine to one of my “hot” yoga classes the other day and it didn’t smell at all after the sweaty session. The superfine wool doesn’t itch a single bit, and feels perfect on my skin- it’s simply lush. Not only is it odour-resistant, it is also moisture-wicking, ultra comfortable and stretchy- perfect for a workout!

Socks for the Summit

These are the socks for anything. I wore these most days on a trip to the Cradle Mountain National Park in Tasmania including an 8 hour day where we hiked to the Summit of Cradle Mountain. This “hike” included 2 hours of scrambling over rocks (only in asics runners) in thick fog, high winds and cold temperatures. These socks kept my feet warm and dry in very tough conditions.
They have held up brilliantly over many uses and are extremely odor resistant. Not to mention the comfort and awesome design. My go-to socks.

Extremely comfortable and versatile socks. The tighter section around the ankle ensures these ankle socks don’t slip below the top of my runners. nThey grey colour is really versatile and I can wear them with any outfit. nThe padding and material keeps my feet cool in summer and warm in winter. My favourite item of WW clothing.

My favourite item of WW clothing. This never had a run during high octane activity as it’s just not cold enough in Tassie, but it had a huge amount of casual/outdoor wear as described above. And it never needs washing! I love the colour, the cut, the seam positioning (particularly the shoulder seams), the angled chest pocket, and the cuffs. I received a huge number of compliments/enquiries about this. Zero piling of fabric. Exceptionally warm, but never sweaty. I often find that on cold days in Tassie when I’m in and out of buildings, I end up alternating between sweaty/cold and sometimes start building up an odour in synthetic fabrics. I could wear this as an outer piece or under a vest, both inside and outside, with no such issues. A really beautiful piece of clothing. Exceptionally well priced for the warmth, style, and quality.

They feel like a sheep is hugging your feet

Honestly, I only wore these around the house, because they’re thicker than any sock I wear (would need to be hiking in snow for an extended period to wear these – my feet run warm). So I can’t comment on outdoor functionality, but based on the Fusion Light I have no doubt they’d be great. From indoor use, they feel beautiful – the knit is far softer and more comfortable than any sock I’ve ever worn (they feel like a sheep is hugging your feet), yet they’re surprisingly durable to pulling (snags on wooden floorboards). I basically didn’t wear shoes indoors all winter because these were on my feet. Sorry that I didn’t have an opportunity to test them in the outdoors where they belong.

The merino wool leggings from Wilderness Wear are brilliant. This heavy-duty, gorgeous black crew top is classy, elegant and a hiker’s dream. I love how this durable merino top is made from a thicker merino wool fabric than the other pieces that I’ve talked about so far. The material of this top is high-quality, quite thick and also sturdy- perfect for those of you who travel and backpack to colder countries. I’m going on a trip to the UK soon and will definitely need this top for my outdoor activities.nThe best thing about this top is that it features gusset panels for increased mobility so you can actually run, jog and do anything in this top. It’s also got raglan sleeves which look adorable, and is slimming on the body. As with all of Wilderness Wear’s clothing, the quality is fantastic and this top can surely last for years to come even if you wash it a lot.

Extremely comfortable and soft

The WW Base layers were all extremely comfortable and soft.  Not itchy at all. As there was no laundry facility or even showers as we climbed higher, the clothes’ odour-resistance was ESSENTIAL
and very obvious. They simply didn’t smell and they also dried very quickly. I found it really amazing that the same top kept me warm when it was cold, and kept me cool when it was hot. I wore the pair of long johns at night as a pj and they kept me very warm.  I found the merino fusion top very interesting. It has all the qualities of a merino top, warm and comfortable, but not as soft and doesn’t cling to the body as much. I feel it’s more suitable as a top layer with a lighter weight merino underneath.

I love this hoodie. It looks and feels great,

I love this hoodie. It looks and feels great, is highly functional (breathable and warm in wet), is reasonably resistant to piling which often happens to mid layers, and the built in face gaiter is genius. I also really like the aesthetic of the slightly bunched neck (caused by the gaiter scoop) when the hood is down. The hood itself is generously sized and well fitted so it wraps properly around your head – most hoods without drawstrings don’t achieve this kind of close fit and either end up with an ugly pointed bit at the top, or sit back behind your hairline and aren’t particularly useful. This (and the Glacier Pullo) became my go-to clothing items for casual use as outers/under a vest, and under a shell for more serious outdoor use, this winter. I found the sleeves and hem to be a little longer than necessary – this didn’t bother me, but I’d be interested to hear what ladies wearing larger sizes report on the sleeve/hem length. I do have a particularly short torso, so this may be partially responsible.

Thank you for your superfast delivery of my order. Your products are such fantastic quality! I wear your MerinoFusion Light 160 tops as my base layer while kayaking in the Winter up here in central VIC where the weather can be awful. Sunny days are beautiful but still very cold (ambient temperature in the attached pics is 4-6 degrees). Is so much better than any other base layer I have tried.

I received my order yesterday and road tested the socks and the MerinoFusion light long sleeve top on a very soggy hike up Mt Macedon this morning. They are both impressive and the wicking quality of the top especially, is so much better than any other base layer I have tried. Thanks so much for having the green made per my special request.

Firm, comfortable, high quality base layer

I have a size 8 grey version of this top. I usually wear it over a singlet or as a base thermal layer although I occasionally wear it as a casual long sleeve top with a pair of jeans. nnI am a small 163cm and this size 8 is very firm fitting (just how I like it and perfect for a bottom layer). nnIt keeps me really warm in cold conditions and is extremely comfortable both in the fit and the material. Sometimes I find marino a bit scratchy and irritating on my skin but this blend is extremely comfortable.

Overall construction is beautiful

These got a hammering over winter! I didn’t wear anything but these for ~5 months straight. Most of the time was with an ultralight merino singlet base layer (even lighter than the WW cool 155), but I tried them a couple of times in warmer conditions minus the base layer just to see how they fared from a “survival” point of view (accidentally overdressing for conditions) – happy to report it was very manageable in direct sunlight in 20+ degrees (sweaty but not “hot”), and zero odour. Retain 90% warmth even when soaking wet. I had a big crash into wildlife at 40+km/h at night on a fire trail which destroyed everything I was wearing on the outer – I had the jersey under an ultralight rain jacket (ripped to shreds). The jersey copped a couple of tiny holes in the shoulder where I skidded on the exposed fabric for a few metres, but not enough to bother tack stitching as the tears aren’t running. I was highly impressed by this durability, and it gave me a lot of confidence in wearing the jersey through scratchy bushes, and for MTB trail use (high frequency crashing).nThe styling and reflective elements are excellent. Overall construction is beautiful, and the slightly dropped tail offers good protection in the wet. Pockets retain impressive stiffness for merino with minimal sagging, and are a generous size for snacks/phone/packable jacket. The 1/4 zip was sufficient to get the jersey on/off over a helmet and vent effectively without adding unnecessary bulk. My only comment is regarding bulk/packability, for my very specific bike packing purposes – the zip pull is quite large (which I understand is great in cold conditions with thick gloves, but starts to add weight and bulk), and the bottom silicon gripper and double thickness hem seam makes it a fairly hefty item to scrunch up and pack, compared with other merino jerseys I’ve worn. This is only a consideration when I’m on trips carrying >1 jersey/tee (so that one is packet at all times), and I’m unusually obsessive about pack size because bag real estate is in such short supply on my small bike. A really spectacular active merino jersey though (and I’ve worn some jerseys in my time…), and extremely competitive price for the quality – well done.

You instantly notice the quality and the fabric is so soft

MerinoFusion 160 short sleeve tee will be a favourite, particularly during the colder months. Opening the box you instantly notice the quality and the fabric is so soft. I liked the cut and how it sat when I wore it, the additional length is appreciated too. I’ve worn it on several runs and it kept me dry & toasty.

High quality T for anything.

A beautifully made tee with high quality fabric. I have the grey version. The fit is perfect and is flattering on my figure. nI have worn this tshirt in almost every scenario, hiking to the top of Cradle Mountain, going for a neighborhood run, in the gym and even out with a pair of jeans. nIt is incredible comfortable, moisture wicking and dries well after the wash. It also takes quite a few wears before it starts to smell which is a bonus. nA must have tshirt in any active persons wardrobe.

The most comfortable and technical t-shirts that I've ever tried on.

I have two of these versatile and sporty t-shirts in red and blue, and they’re probably the most comfortable “technical” t-shirts that I’ve ever tried on. The fabric is simply lush as it’s made from a 50% merino wool and 50% Ultra-fine Schoeller Polypropylene blend, giving it unique moisture-wicking and breathable qualities that other sporty t-shirts won’t have. These interesting merino fusion garments are created by Wilderness Wear as a way to enhance the natural qualities of merino wool, and transform them into a more practical and light garment.nThe fabric instantly stood out when I tried these tops on. It’s smooth, light and totally non-irritating to my sensitive skin. Usually I wear polyester t-shirts to run but these t-shirts felt so much better compared to the normal ones that I have. I love the cut and design too, as they’re slim-fitting, gorgeous and so much better than the other exercise garments that I have in my drawer. I wear them jogging all the time and they’re holding up beautifully.

Perfect weight, not scratchy, seams nonintrusive.

Perfect weight, not scratchy, seams nonintrusive. Only wore a couple of times under my helmet for testing purposes as I usually wear my hair in a plait that feeds out above the rear fastner of my helmet (ordinarily I use a fleece skullcap that has a slit at the back that I thread my ponytail through). Had plenty of use around camp when packing up/down though. Come to think of it, I should probably just bust out the sewing machine and add a hair port to this…

These socks performed extremely well

I recently wore the Overland eXtreme socks, along with a pair of wick dry liners, on a three day pack walk through the western Blue Mountains. The socks performed extremely well, with the liners helping to avoid blisters. After washing, the socks bounced back well and I have worn them on more local walks since. At the time that I bought the eXtreme socks I also bought a pair of cheaper socks (wigwam) and found these to be of a very loose knit which made for an uncomfortable walking experience. The eXtreme socks are a little more expensive than other brands, but in my view having comfortable feet on a long hike makes them well worth the price.

My husband and I both tried out our new socks today and were very happy!

I started following Frances Antonia on Instagram and became curious about your socks through seeing them on there. So I ordered some on Friday evening and didn’t expect them to come so quickly. My husband and I both tried out our new socks today and were very happy! They were so comfortable. I’m set for my upcoming trip to Tassie, and my husband is happy that he has found comfortable socks to wear with his work boots. We’ll probably be ordering some more before long!nAnd we love that they are all Australian!

Great cycling socks for winter.

I purchased these socks for keeping my toes warm during Melbourne winter cycles at the recommendation of the team. They are a great fit – not too thick to fit in my cycling shoes and have super comfortable padded toe/heel areas. Would highly recommend to any cyclists who want to prevent frosty toes on early morning / winter rides!

A really versatile sock though, and perfect for my winter cycling.

These had a lot of use through winter for cycling. Height/weight/cushioning was perfect (I would’ve ordinarily found them a little too cushioned, but the mesh vent zones through the foot bed slimmed them down just enough to maintain that feel of direct contact with the pedals). I found them super durable in some very scratchy hike and bike scenarios – still look like new. As with the Atmospheres, the photoluminescent yarn didn’t seem particularly effective, but didn’t detract from the sock performance. My one comment would be that the toe seam was sometimes a little bulky/obstructive when the sock was wet – I think maybe because of the high % merino, they sagged slightly through the foot bed when wet, and allowed the seam to move around. A really versatile sock though, and perfect for my winter cycling.

These are my go to sock

After big days on my feet…whether they be long runs, hilly hikes or time at work it’s important for me to take care of my legs to be able to bounce back and go again the next day. These are my go to sock when the day is done, it’s cold out and it’s time to kick back and absorb the work of the day! Warm and supportive these socks are comfortable as well as compressive and I feel my legs are ready to go again the next day. I find they are also comfortable to sleep in and excellent if you are out camping and want something to wear round the camp at night especially when it’s cold!

A lifesaver on my hikes

I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of eco-friendly, merino fleece socks, and these are it, y’all–completely sourced in Tasmania! The cushioning it provides has been a lifesaver on my hikes. Without shoes, it feels like 3 extra layers of padding, so it’s still comfortable even when I take my shoes off to sit and relax during a hike

The socks performed extremely well

I came across the eXtreme socks while searching on-line for quality hiking socks for an upcoming trek in Uganda. This ten day trek will be quite demanding, over varying terrains and through varying climate zones and it will be important to have reliable hiking socks that are both warm for the alpine mountain section and successfully wick away moisture through the more temperate regions.
I recently wore the socks, along with a pair of wick dry liners, on a three day pack walk through the western Blue Mountains. I didn’t notice I had them on.

The Xfit eXtreme’s are very comfortable socks. They provided great compression. Wore them for short run and then during the day I didn’t feel any soreness after the run. I have been sceptical of compression clothing in the past. Wilderness Wear has made a great sock with even better materials within the sock. As someone who has a sports science degree I can highly recommend these socks.
