Wilderness Wear have been designing and manufacturing merino wool hiking socks in Melbourne since 1989. Our extensive knowledge & experience has led us to create a range that covers everything from day walks in the Dandenongs to multi-day epics like the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory.

Unlike other brands, our socks feature a higher percentage of merino wool, 100% Australian, blended with nylon and lycra for durability. We also offer a fusion range featuring Climayarn® technology, a blend of 80% Climayarn® (3:2 ratio – Pure Australian Merino/Superfine Schoeller Polypropylene).

For men who suffer from blisters, our eXtreme range uses friction-free Profilen® fibres in the heel and toe areas to ensure blister-free multi-day hiking adventures.

WildernessWool™

Sourced from the highest grade merino wool from specific Tasmanian growers who have been selectively breeding sheep for generations. This ensures a truly Australian-made, premium sock.

Profilen®

Profilen® is PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) with an extremely low friction coefficient. It reduces friction in high-abrasion areas to prevent blisters and abrasions. 5% of this yarn is knitted into our Merino wool eXtreme range to ensure your hiking adventures remain blister free.

Climayarn®

Merino Fusion Climayarn® offers sweat elimination (rapid dry), heat preservation at low temperatures, and prevents overheating during hiking. It combines the natural advantages of merino wool with the performance & strength of polypropylene.
